Step One: Randomly load the dirt bike on to the truck at 7:30am and start cruising up Vancouver Island

So yeah it’s really early and I’m rolling down the highway towards Duncan with nowhere in mind and a dirt bike gassed up and ready. I was almost in Nanaimo before my ridey senses started tingling, but I ended up cruising down some random road for way too long before getting frustrated and pulling over beside what appeared to be an abandoned gravel pit.

I unloaded the bike, started it and was pulling my boots out the back when FUCKEN HONK! there’s a big white truck right behind me and some angry looking old dude getting out of it. He walks up and says, “I don’t know where you plan to ride that around here…”. So I point at the gravel pit. He identifies himself as Timberwest security and informs me that this is Timberwest land. So I ask him if he knows anywhere I can ride. The map below is the place he pointed me to, and WOOT it’s wicked!

It’s an ungated road on crown land and not maintained. Totally awesome riding, lakes everywhere, seemingly endless. If you’re in the area I highly recommend this! Thanks, angry Timberwest dude!
